Benefits include:
- Coiled Tubing Injector Head is better stabilized
- Faster more efficient integration of coiled tubing with additional services
- A safer more economic way to perform service work on deep water vessels or structures
- Time Saver + Efficiency = Project Cost Reduction
The search for new oil and gas reserves has led our exploration and drilling efforts into deeper and deeper water depths. This new frontier, with all its inevitable benefits, has presented a few obstacles. One such complication has been the stabilization of the service equipment while working down-hole.
Rig companies have already solved the problem of securing the drill pipe against movement caused by rough seas. By placing motion compensators in strategic locations they have been able to protect the pipe against movement. The same process has been applied to production tubing as well. Utilizing this existing technology, we can now prevent movement of the service equipment while it is tied into the drill pipe, production tubing, etc., with the use of a lift frame. This rigid frame acts as a work window, housing your
coiled tubing injector head, snubbing basket or wire-line lubricator.
This lift frame can be tied into the block with the use of a 5" or 5-1/2" bottle neck lift sub. The base of the structure connects to the production tubing, etc., applying elevator bails and an elevator to the work string. This technology has been proven and is used both domestically and internationally.
Having found a solution to stabilize the service equipment, one other barricade needed to be overcome. When the coiled tubing was positioned in the frame, but another service was required, i.e. wire-line, rigging down the coiled tubing and latter rig back was time consuming. This process, depending on weather conditions, etc., couldtake as long as eight (8) hours of total downtime. DEVIN''s solution to this problem is the Mini Track.
The Mini Track incorporates the Track Stack, a hydraulic coiled tubing support structure. By allying the Track Stack with the lift frame, this now allows you to hydraulically slide the coiled tube injector head away from the well bore, allowing another service to function, without ever actually removing the injector head from the frame.
